What is Ecclesia Academy?
Ecclesia Academy serves the local church by equipping believers to know what they believe and why they believe it. From one-time seminars to year-long learning experiences, EA offers believers the chance to dive deep into the Bible, theology, discipleship, and leadership development.
Why does something like Ecclesia Academy exist?
We believe that the local church is the primary place where God calls and equips believers for every good work (2 Tim 3:16–17). EA exists to equip Christians with Biblical and theological training for discipleship and church leadership.
How does Ecclesia Academy work?
EA offers
classes year-round. Varying in length from three to eight weeks, the
topics include Bible, theology, discipleship, leadership, and special
topics. Classes consist of small cohorts to facilitate community and to
enable one-on-one teaching.
Throughout the year, EA will also host
one-time seminars on special topics with local or guest presenters. EA
also offers a year-long pastoral internship.
Students can decide whether they would like to follow the Basis Track or Leadership Track, or both.
The Basis Track meets primarily during the spring and fall, and covers the basis of Christian belief and life (e.g., Bible, theology, and discipleship).
The Leadership Track meets primarily during the summer and winter, and covers the biblical leadership.
Who is Ecclesia Academy for?
If you want to dive deeper into your faith, then EA is the place for you. For those looking to enrich their understanding of the Bible and theology, we recommend the Basis Track. If you are discerning a call to lead in the local church--whether that's as a community group leader, deacon, or elder--then sign up for the Leadership Track. If you are looking for enrichment and leadership, then sign up for both.
That sounds good. What's next?
First, consider whether you can commit to attend each session for the full year (See schedule below; classes meet Thursdays, 6:30–8:30p at the Mobile and Fairhope campus of Mars Hill Church of Mobile, Alabama).
Second, support the academy by paying tuition of $200 for Basis Track. All Leadership Track classes are free. The Basis fee covers all of your textbooks, resources, and visiting lecturers. Scholarships are available.
Third, fill out an application by January 10th. Seats are limited to keep cohorts small for fostering community.
What are ways that I can support, even if I don't attend?
Pray that the Lord will bless and grow everyone involved with EA, from students to instructors. Consider donating to the scholarship funds.
